It would be easy to somehow pigeonhole Dave Scott-Thomas as just a coach. But the man behind the phenomenally successful University of Guelph track and cross-country teams, and the Speed River Track and Field Club is more than that.

He is a mentor and a builder, and — when you consider what he and his posse have done to help build Guelph’s running community — a responsible community activist.

Scott-Thomas recently won Canadian university track coach of the year honours for his men’s team.
