Guelph’s new hurdles are a start in bringing down...

Close your eyes. Picture this: Ten years from now, a crowded stadium surrounding a state-of-the-art track facility. On the track are the best runners in the world; half of them live in Guelph. This city is known around the world as a centre of excellence for the sport. Canada’s Olympians in track and field live and train here. In this afternoon of racing, Guelph will take on the world’s best and win.

For those of you who think economics even when your eyes are closed, the hotels are full and the restaurants are busy.

Now open your eyes, carefully. There is dust in the air. Our dirt track is state of the art… from 1962. It is like East Africa, not only the dust, but that our only wealth is the depth of human talent.
